And sieving through memory dregs

Like you, with your toasted tea cake

Atop a napkin on your legs

A resting place for the living

Overlooking those in their longest sleep

Cream and jam oozing from Victoria sponge

Fresh 'baked well' memories, t astes of life so sweet

I'm dreaming of Devil's chocolate gateau

That we once shared with a very long spoon

As ironic smiles preyed on our lips

While we savoured this heavenly tea room
